CIRCUS MUNDI- Adriana Jebeleanu

  • Artist: Adriana Jebeleanu
  • Exhibition Date: On view from March 12, 2011

KaBe Contemporary is pleased to present for the first time in Miami the exhibition Circus Mundi by Rumanian artist, Adriana Jebeleanu. On view from March 12th through May 10th, 2011

Circus Mundi is a project devised by Jebeleanu which intends to convey a critique of the world’s historic, and current events as well as to the protagonists that lead, but furthermore, entertain us in the never-ending circus we live in. The Italian based artist presents a series of paintings and sculptures that follow the unique style acquired from the Rumanian Cluj-Napoca School.

Basing on views by Nietzsche, Circus Mundi invites the viewer to walk into the artist’s perspective on history and politics, insinuating in a subtle comical manner that history is in fact “circular” and as Jebeleanu herself puts it: “A war is all wars combined, a corrupt politician is the same in different times – only faces and names change” Through this exhibition, the artist’s goal is to show how different political figures who fight for their polarized ideologies ultimately become the same enemy they see in their counterpart.

Adriana Jebeleanu is a Rumanian born artist who currently works between Italy and Rumania. She attended Art High School and Art University in the highly accredited academies of Cluj-Napoca, Rumania.

Jebeleanu’s work has been showcased in a number of exhibitions around Europe such as the Prague Biennial in 2009, the Cluj National Art Museum in 2006, and will be part of a group exhibition in the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu, Rumania. She has also been awarded the Young Italian Artist award for three consecutive years.
